FULMAX® is a dark yellow to brown solution extracted from natural deposits of organic matter called Leonardite. Through an efficient extraction procedure we liquefy the leonardite. The specific steps are taken to separate the fulvic acid from the humic acid. Next we carefully concentrate the fluid formulation of fulvic acid into Fulmax®. Fulvic acid has a very high cation exchange capacity which is beneficial for plant nutrition. The chemical structure of fulvic acid shows various oxygen containing functional groups; COOH, phenolic OH, and C=O. These oxygen containing groups will exchange the H+ cations for other cations; for example; Zn2+, Fe2+, Mn2+ and Cu2+ cations. The occurrence of the charged sites accounts for the ability of fulvic acid to retain nutrient cations in an available and non leachable form.
